TMC Iloilo’s ‘Paglaum’ recognizes excellence in healthcare journalism

The Medical City Iloilo honored local media and bloggers for their excellence in healthcare journalism through Paglaum Media Excellence Awards 2024.

In celebration of its 14th anniversary, The Medical City (TMC) Iloilo once again turned the spotlight to the local media and bloggers of Iloilo by recognizing excellence in healthcare journalism through “Paglaum Media Excellence Awards” held on April 26, 2024, at Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo. 

Now in its second year, TMC Iloilo’s Paglaum Media Excellence Awards bears the theme “Healthcare  Resilience: Adapting, Innovating, and Thriving” which speaks about how the healthcare industry adapted to the challenges of the pandemic and remained steadfast in delivering healthcare services to the community.  

TMC Iloilo received a total of 41 entries for 9 categories across four media platforms which include television, radio, print, and digital.

“Paglaum Media Excellence Awards is our way of paying tribute to the dedication of the local media and bloggers in delivering factual news and information about health. It is important especially nowadays that we have a reliable source of health information to avoid misinformation and fake news that can lead to serious problems in the community,” said TMC Iloilo Chief Executive Officer Dr. Felix Ray Villa. 

The Medical City Enterprise President and Group CEO Dr. Eugene F. Ramos proposes a toast for the success of The Medical City Iloilo for the past 14 years.

On his part, TMC Enterprise President and Group CEO Dr. Eugene F. Ramos emphasized the vital role of  the media and bloggers in shaping the perception of the public about their health. 

“Filipinos can never get better in terms of health unless they fully understand what health is all about and we accept the responsibility of taking care of ourselves. They cannot have that responsibility without the necessary information that you provide. The more your communication becomes effective,  the more you contribute to a positive change in our society,” Dr. Ramos noted. 

The winners of TMC Iloilo Paglaum Media Excellence Awards received a Special Wellness Package and  the Paglaum trophy which is inspired is by a lighthouse or parola, a representation of how the media  and bloggers shed light, gave hope, and inspired the public
