MORE Power and ILECO III Competes In Friendly Basketball Game

MORE Power received a warm welcome from the employees of ILECO III during a quick visit to the 5th District just this September 12.

Employees competed not in power rates nor in distribution service but in the basketball court as the players from each team battled their heart out in a friendly but competitive basketball game.

The MORE Power team, led by President and CEO Mr. Roel Castro and the ILECO III team led by Gen. Manager Atty. James Balsomo started the game with the ceremonial jump ball.

The MORE Power team started hitting from the perimeter with a series of 3 points and the ILECO III team attacked under the rim with their big man as a key contributor to the game.

During the halftime, MORE Power ladies took the spotlight in their cheers and yells, and even took part in a friendly shooting competition with the ladies from ILECO III.

ILECO III emerged as the winner after effectively defended their court despite the barrage of 3’s from MORE Power.

By dusk, the employees bonded in a unique social gathering.

According to Atty. Balsomo, both the public and private sector should have a good relationship. He even praised how MORE Power became the biggest and a trendsetter among power companies in Panay.

“We are the smallest among electric cooperatives and the most strategically challenged by serving 32 Island barangays. We are simply the most outstanding electric cooperative in the Philippines. Being outstanding it is the result of consistent hardwork,” says Atty. James Balsomo, Gen. Manager, ILECO III.

The friendship game aims to show to the public the good relationship between the two electric distribution utilities.

“The public sector and the private sector can really work together as rehab partners in this industry. For me, hindi pa nagsimula ang laro, panalo na tayong lahat. This is the first time that this is happening in the country. We would like to prove that walang hidwaan, there is no more between us. We can work and we should work together as one,” says Mr. Castro.
