Everything you need to know from the second half of Samsung’s bi-annual tech drop
It’s officially the second half of the year, and you know what that means: Samsung’s second Unpacked event just dropped—and yes, it delivered big time. From shiny new foldables to health-tracking wearables, Samsung is once again flexing its innovation muscles (literally, in the case of FlexWindows).
We were invited to an exclusive event with fellow tech creators at Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City to get first dibs on Samsung’s newest drops. We also tuned in to the livestream (which aired around 10 p.m. PHT) to catch every detail. Here’s your no-fuss rundown of everything that was announced—starting with the stars of the show: the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7.
The Galaxy Z Flip7: A Pocket-Sized Powerhouse
The Flip is back and smarter than ever. The Galaxy Z Flip7 is being called Samsung’s thinnest Z Flip yet at just 13.7mm folded, and weighs only 188g. But don’t let its compact form fool you—this thing is loaded with AI smarts and camera muscle.
What’s new?
- Bigger Cover Screen (aka FlexWindow): The cover display got a glow-up. It’s now a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED panel (up from 3.4 inches), peaking at 2,600 nits brightness with a 120Hz refresh rate.
- Main Display: A 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen that’s smooth AF
- Battery: A beefy 4,300mAh battery—the largest yet in any Z Flip—which promises up to 31 hours of video playback. Bye-bye, power bank.
- Cameras: Dual rear cams with a 50MP Wide + 12MP Ultra-Wide lens combo. Concert fancams just got a serious Nightography upgrade.
Oh, and if you’re feeling budget-conscious (same), there’s also the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, which starts at P56,990. You get a solid 6.7-inch display and a 50MP FlexCam. It comes in black and white—clean and classic.
The Galaxy Z Fold7: Big Screen Energy
Samsung's foldable flagship, the Galaxy Z Fold7, is bringing pro productivity with pro portability. It’s lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra at 215g, but with twice the screen. Folded, it’s 8.99mm thick; unfolded, only 4.2mm.
The glow-up includes:
- Display Real Estate: A 6.5-inch cover screen with a new 21:9 aspect ratio. The inner screen is 11% larger than last year’s, so whether you’re multitasking or binge-watching, it just hits better.
- Camera: The Fold7 debuts the first-ever 200MP wide-angle cam on a Z Fold. Yep—photos are gonna be insane.
- Chip + Battery: Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy with a 4,400mAh dual battery that can juice up to 50% in about 30 minutes.
- AI Tools: Welcome to the age of smart everything. With One UI 8, you get AI Results View, Drawing Assist, Writing Assist, and more—all optimized for that huge screen.
Color options? Choose from Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jetblack, and an online-exclusive Mint (which, TBH, is lowkey our fave).
Galaxy Watch8 Series: For Health Goals You’ll Actually Stick To
The Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic also made their grand debut—and they're serious about wellness. From sleep tracking to stress alerts, these watches are basically your personal wellness coach, powered by AI.
Among the key features:
- High Stress Alert: It actually tells you to chill.
- Samsung Health integration: Track workouts, sleep, heart rate, and more in real-time.
