Demonstrating her hands-on leadership and commitment to address community concerns, Mayor Raisa Treñas Chu led a meeting with barangay officials of Ed Ganzon to discuss and inspect the drainage issue affecting residents and businesses in the area.
According to Barangay Captain Dy, floodwater in their drainage system takes a long time to subside, causing inconvenience to motorists and nearby establishments. In response, Mayor Treñas personally visited the site together with the City Government’s team of architects and engineers to assess the situation and determine immediate and long-term solutions.
“Our immediate action is to conduct declogging operations to check if water can still pass through the outfall,” Mayor Treñas said, noting that recent developments in the area may have contributed to the reduced drainage flow.
She added that the City Engineer’s and City Architect’s Offices are already studying a long-term infrastructure solution to prevent similar problems in the future.
Mayor Treñas assured residents that the City Government will continue to check other flood-prone areas in the coming days as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen Iloilo City’s drainage system and ensure the safety and convenience of all Ilonggos.
