Iloilo City Declared Insurgency-Free

Iloilo City has officially been declared insurgency-free by the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army, and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), marking a significant milestone in the region's peace and security efforts. The declaration came after the approval and adoption of the Joint Peace and Security Coordination Center (JPSCC) Resolution during a joint meeting of the City Peace and Order Council and Iloilo City Anti-Drug Abuse Council held on June 16 at City Hall Penthouse

“I am pleased of this declaration by various law enforcement agencies, as this is a manifestation of all our hard work in creating a safe and livable city. We will continue with our initiatives to maintain our insurgency-free and generally peaceful status,” Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said.

Representatives from the Iloilo City Police Office, 301st Infantry Brigade, and PCG attended the JPSCC meeting, where it was reported that there have been no recorded violent incidents initiated by the New People's Army (NPA) and no non-violent urban activities attributed to the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)-NPA since 2018.

According to the JPSCC members' report, Iloilo City remains free from the threat of the CPP-NPA. This achievement is credited to the continuous and collaborative efforts of the police, military, and civilian residents, who have been instrumental in deterring terrorism, insurgency, and highly organized crimes within the city.

The collective dedication and vigilance of the security forces, along with the support and cooperation of the local community, have contributed to the restoration and maintenance of peace and stability in Iloilo City. This development is expected to enhance the overall well-being and prosperity of the city, allowing its residents to thrive in a secure environment.

The declaration of Iloilo City as insurgency-free reflects the success of comprehensive security measures and the commitment of all stakeholders to maintaining peace and order. It serves as a testament to the effectiveness of joint efforts in combating insurgency and fostering a climate of safety for the city's residents and visitors.
