5 Must-Eat Dishes at Lazy Susan

Taiwan, renowned for its vibrant night markets and diverse street food scene, has become a culinary inspiration for food enthusiasts worldwide. For those who crave the flavors of Taiwan without leaving the country, Lazy Susan emerges as a haven for authentic Taiwanese dishes. Established in January 2021 by seasoned entrepreneur Anne Marie Wharton, Lazy Susan started as a takeout and delivery business and has since expanded to a small space inside SM City Iloilo's Food Hall.

Having had the opportunity to visit Taiwan last February, I can attest that Lazy Susan is the real deal. I explored night markets, dined at Michelin-starred food stalls, and savored delicacies from hawkers. So in this article, I'll highlight the five must-try dishes at Lazy Susan that capture the essence of Taiwanese cuisine.

1.) Sichuan Spicy Noodles (P165): For spice enthusiasts, Lazy Susan's Sichuan Spicy Noodles are a fiery delight. This dish features noodles bathed in a tantalizing Sichuan sauce, adorned with a boiled egg, pechay, ground peanuts, and a flavorful mixture of minced garlic and chili oil-based sauce. This dish promises a spicy adventure that will leave your taste buds tingling.

2.) Pork Bao (P85/2 pieces): Lazy Susan's take on the renowned Gua Bao, the Pork Bao, offers a delightful blend of textures and flavors. This dish presents a fluffy semi-circular bao bun filled with tender pork meat and complementary condiments, creating a tangy symphony that is sure to satisfy your cravings.

3.) Scallion Wrap (P79/combo): A classic Chinese street food, the Scallion Wrap is a delightful breakfast option. This Chinese savory, unleavened flatbread is folded with oil and minced scallions, resulting in a crispy shell on the outside and a soft interior. Pair it with Lazy Susan's dumplings for an authentic and satisfying meal.

4.) Pepper Bun (P69): Hailing from the streets of Taiwan and recognized with a Michelin star award, the Pepper Bun at Lazy Susan is a must-try delicacy. This sesame seed bun is generously filled with perfectly spiced pork, offering a delightful combination of flavors and textures that will transport you to the bustling streets of Taiwan.

5.) Beef Noodle Soup (P165): For a heartwarming and fulfilling experience, indulge in Lazy Susan's Beef Noodle Soup. This dish is a harmonious blend of braised beef, vegetables, egg, and noodles, promising a comforting and satisfying meal that captures the essence of traditional Taiwanese cuisine.

So when you find yourself at SM City Iloilo, don't miss the opportunity to visit Lazy Susan and savor these dishes. They promise to transport your taste buds to Taiwan without the need to leave the country.
