Japanese Film Festival (JFF) Closes Out 27th Edition in Iloilo

On March 3, after 10 days of screening 13 specially selected Japanese films in SM City Iloilo, the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) 2024 concluded with the showing of Voltes V: The Liberation (1999). The festival theme, aimed at screening movies that bring nostalgia, welcomed Ilonggos warmly in the theaters.

Attracting cinephiles and those interested in Japanese arts and culture, JFF 2024 opened in Iloilo with a full-house screening of The First Slam Dunk (2022) on February 23, 2024. Ilonggos of different ages eagerly waited and attended the festival’s opening night at the SM City Iloilo Cinema.

The anticipation and energy of moviegoers were evident as Ilonggos lined up and obtained tickets as early as 10:00 AM every day during the whole duration of the festival. With the high turnout at every screening, everyone was enthusiastic to discover the variety of films spanning different genres.

To thank avid festival-goers, JFF had raffled prizes to those who watched at least 5 films. The prizes included were JFF 2024 tote bags, Special Edition JFF 2024 Beep Cards, and The First Slam Dunk Figure Collection - Complete Shohoku Set. Names of lucky winners and claiming instructions were posted on the Japanese Film Festival’s and SM Cinema Iloilo’s Facebook pages.

With a successful run in 6 cities across 5 regions in the Philippines, everyone is surely looking forward to JFF 2025 and its next lineup of films.

JFF 2024 is supported by the Film Development Council of the Philippines, JT International (Philippines) Inc., and the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines.
