He Designed Buildings, But Life Designed Something Greater: The Inspiring Journey of Architect Jerson Marcial

"Success is not about staying in one lane. Sometimes, God redraws the blueprint."

When Architect Jerson Garingo Tecson Marcial boarded a plane for Bahrain in 2005, he carried with him more than architectural plans and dreams. He carried the hopes of a Filipino determined to build something bigger than buildings—a future anchored on purpose, growth, and service.

Today, at 46, the Manila-born architect finds himself leading one of Dubai’s thriving healthcare institutions as General Manager of Jose Garizaldy Gomez Dental Clinic. It is a destination he never imagined when he first left home, proving that sometimes life’s most beautiful structures are the ones we never planned.

A Dream Bigger Than Four Walls

Fresh from graduating with a degree in Architecture from the Technological Institute of the Philippines, Architect Marcial envisioned a life dedicated to designing spaces. Like many young professionals, he was passionate about his craft and eager to make his mark.

But while opportunities existed at home, he knew the world had more to offer.

“I wanted to grow professionally and provide a better future for my family,” he says.

That desire brought him to Bahrain, where he began his overseas journey in the construction industry. But as exciting as the opportunity was, reality quickly set in.

There were birthdays he missed. Family gatherings he could only witness through photographs. Milestones celebrated from thousands of miles away.

Homesickness became one of his greatest battles.

Yet instead of allowing loneliness to defeat him, Architect Marcial chose resilience.

“Those experiences taught me adaptability and the importance of maintaining a positive mindset,” he reflects.

When Life Changes the Blueprint

Architecture was supposed to be his forever.

But life had other plans.

What started as a career in design gradually expanded into business management, healthcare administration, and strategic leadership. One opportunity led to another until he found himself managing operations at Jose Garizaldy Gomez Dental Clinic in Dubai.

It was a surprising turn.

From designing structures, he was now helping create something equally important—better experiences for patients and healthcare professionals.

Looking back, he realized that God had simply expanded his blueprint.

“Those unexpected opportunities allowed me to develop skills and experiences I never imagined,” he says.

Learning Never Stops

While many would have settled after finding success abroad, Architect Marcial chose a different path.

He pursued a Master of Engineering Management in Construction Management, earned his MBA from Swiss Business School in 2024, and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Business Administration.

Balancing executive responsibilities, academics, and family life demanded discipline and sacrifice.

There were long nights.

Moments of exhaustion.

And days when giving up seemed easier.

But he pressed on.

Because for Architect Marcial, education was never just about adding letters after his name.

It was about becoming a better leader and creating a lasting impact.

“Perseverance produces results,” he says.

And every milestone became proof that difficult seasons do not last forever.

The Pain That Strengthened Him

Among the many challenges he faced abroad, one heartbreak left a deep mark on his soul—the loss of his father.

No title, degree, or professional accomplishment could ease the pain.

In those moments, Architect Marcial leaned on the two things that had sustained him throughout his journey: faith and family.

“Strength is not about avoiding hardships,” he says. “It is about continuing to move forward despite them.”

Prayer became his refuge.

Gratitude became his daily habit.

And God's promises became his anchor.

One verse has accompanied him through every season:

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." — Philippians 4:13

Building More Than a Career

Today, Architect Marcial proudly wears many hats—architect, executive, student, mentor, and leader.

But perhaps his greatest achievement is not found in his titles.

It is in the positive impact he creates.

Through his work, he helps improve patient experiences and supports healthcare professionals. Through his leadership, he creates environments where people can thrive.

His personal philosophy remains simple:

"The best results happen when strong design, sound business, and a people-first mindset work together."

It is a principle that extends far beyond boardrooms and blueprints.

It is how he lives his life.

The Legacy He Wants to Leave

Despite all he has accomplished, Architect Marcial knows his journey is far from over.

He dreams of completing his Doctor of Business Administration and contributing meaningful research that bridges architecture, healthcare, and patient satisfaction.

He hopes to continue building organizations centered on innovation and compassion.

Most importantly, he dreams of providing lasting security and opportunities for his family while growing into the kind of leader who inspires others.

Because success, he believes, is not measured solely by wealth.

It is measured by the lives touched and the values passed on.

A Message to Fellow OFWs

For Filipinos dreaming of working abroad, Architect Marcial offers a message forged through more than two decades of sacrifice and perseverance:

“Never stop learning and never lose sight of your purpose. Success abroad is not measured only by financial achievements, but by the positive impact you create, the values you uphold, and the legacy you leave behind.”

After all, life doesn't always follow the original blueprint.

Sometimes, the greatest masterpieces are the ones God designs along the way.

And for Architect Jerson Garingo Tecson Marcial, the boy who once dreamed of building structures has discovered that his greatest work has been building a life of faith, service, and purpose—one brick, one lesson, and one blessing at a time.
