MORE Power Iloilo turned over illuminated police signages to ICPO

In a simple ceremony held last December 16, 2022, MORE Power President and CEO Mr. Roel Z. Castro sealed the partnership with PCol. Leo Batiles of Iloilo City Police Office through a Memorandum of Agreement

The MOA embodied the goal of MORE Power and ICPO to increase police station visibility to the general public at night, particularly in situations of emergency where the general public's safety and protection are at risk.

MORE Power's donation of the four (4) signages is the company's way of thanking the PNP for their assistance in reducing massive pilferage in Iloilo City since MORE Power took over as the city's distribution utility.

Castro claims that when MORE Power took over, the system loss was startlingly high at 28–30%. This means, there are three cases of pilferage for every ten customers.

After two years of being in charge of the city's distribution system, the system loss was reduced to 6% with the assistance of the Iloilo City Police force. Meanwhile, MORE Power's customer base grew from 62,000 to nearly 90,000, converting illegal connections into legitimate customers.

“We always make sure na pag lumabas yung apprehension team natin, the police will always be with them not only to protect us but it is really for the protection of the consumers,” says a grateful Castro.

The project reinforces the partnership between the Philippine National Police and the power distribution utility in making Iloilo a safer place for Ilonggos and visitors alike.

“I am totally happy that we are doing this out of our own volition to help and be of assistance to our police force in making sure Iloilo City will be one of the brightest city in the country and one of the cities with the lowest systems loss,” Castro added.

“We are grateful of this collaboration with MORE Power, we appreciate their concern to the public and support to the PNP. Having thought of providing a better and brighter signages so the public can easily spot the location of our police stations is something that will help us serve the public better. We look forward to more partnership projects with them,” Col. Batiles said.

The Philippine National Police plays an important role in MORE Power's anti-pilferage operations by securing the apprehension team and the consumers for a peaceful consumer-awareness campaign and assisting them in becoming legitimate MORE Power consumers.
